Many times we are asked the question; "why should I get certified?".  The answer is quit simple.  You don't need to get certified. The certification program was established to help companies who are not familiar with ISO or ANSI standards for Environmental Management Systems.  By going through the certification process, the companies are making a public statement that their sustainability program and policy are important.

The certification process aids companies in putting together their own policy on sustainability and helps them through the process and implementation.  There are many certification programs that address either green building or green products. Most, if not all, are based on the International Organization for Standardization ISO 14001.  This is the international standard for an environmental and sustainable policy.  

Our certification is no different than others.  We implement areas of sustainability and social responsibility that are broken down into categories and awarded points for their completion.  This can all be done without going through the certification.  Eco-Racing can function as a consultant to help implement areas of sustainability that are important to each company individually.

So to answer the question whether certification is necessary the answer is no.  But a public policy on sustainability and implementation of that policy is.  It should be all of our responsibility to become more sustainable and less wasteful.
